Drawing Project with Pencil on A2

For this project, the objective was to design a carpet, with emphasis on selecting a specific type and theme. Opting for a cultural theme, I centered my design around Al Sadu, a traditional weaving technique rich in the heritage of the UAE. The drawing, executed with pencil on A2 paper, features intricate patterns inspired by elements synonymous with Emirati culture, including motifs representing coffee, dates, Talli (traditional woven braids), and the iconic palm tree. By incorporating these elements, the design aims to encapsulate the essence of UAE’s traditional practices and
cultural significance.
Illustration Version of Al Sadu

Collaborating with Zayed University students for the Creative Career Days Programme at Al Jameel Art Centre, we embarked on crafting a vibrant background design. Our inspiration stemmed from illustrating the traditional Emirati weaving technique known as Al Sadu. Drawing from my previous project, I integrated the same patterns while incorporating fresh elements from my friend’s design. Our objective was to seamlessly
blend Emirati elements with new additions to present a unified and innovative project.
